Having to live on a tighter, more disciplined budget – but instead of just staying at home to save money, or finding work, you go out to the karaoke bar and sing and do magic tricks until strangers buy all your drinks – thus proving that the desire to get the most, with the least effort, actually sharpens the mind (rather than dull it) – proving the foolish wisdom of the Trickster archetype in myth and culture and how it created the very society that shuns it (but more on that later): PRICELESS
When you go out…bring your deck of Bicycle Cards.
Don’t leave home without them.
Hey! What karaoke bar did you go to? Thanks for inviting me…
Oh wait, I did tell you I was working, didn’t I.
Guess I can’t justifiably yell at you after all.

Actually, a couple of my former castmates go there every Thursday. You should come with us on the Thursday after Thanksgiving. It’s at Cinco de Maio.

It is amusing. I have been reading some books with the archialtypical trickster image in them. IT is the mythago series, I forget the author. They deal with primeadial images from your mind resurficing in a 20th century woods in England. There is the trickster, the hood character, some really nasty beasties that were frightening humans way before christ. It is neat to read about things that have never really changed in thousands of years, they just get a new face.

Yes, archetypes and the communal memory of dream all fascinate me to no end.

Nice.
Nice.
I take my bicycle deck with me (as well as a few other cards for other tricks) but I have yet to have enough confidence and courage to actually perform them for anyone.
I still need to learn the art of confidence from my great teacher.
