I just got a very short email on my student email at UIS saying:
You have been chosen English graduate marshal for graduation.
I think I’m honored . . . but I don’t know what that means.

English Graduate Marshal? Like in the graduate wild west?
“Marshal, there ain’t room in this town for the both of us…”
“Actually, I believe you are trying to say ‘There isn’t enough room in this town for both of us.’
That’s what I’m thinking. I’ll be packing a gun and a thesaurus.
your gonna be packing guns? like in a packaging company? wouldnt that be kind of dangerous? Make sure those guns are on safety.

Whatever it means, congratulations. I’m assuming it means you’ll have to give a speech. I hope it doesn’t go as far over as the Ray Bradbury speech! 😉
Yeah . . . maybe not that long.

I was graduate marshal for the college of Visual and Performing Arts at my graduation. That meant I got to wear a red robe (instead of black) and got to carry my college’s flag into the ceremony and sit up front with all the officials and what have you. It was pretty cool, although I wouldn’t have minded sitting with my friends. If your school is anything like mine that might be what you’re doing.
I like the marshal idea better tho. Dust off those old spurs, Josh, my boy! Heeeyah!!!!

Hehe. Hey man, I ‘ve been getting in touch lately, with some of the old Wauconda faces and I think, for this year’s slip n’ slide party, I’d like to get the old school revelers back.
Stay tuned . . .
